Pedestal as Gift for Return of Macao—Lotus Flower in Full Bloom
On Macao’s return to China in 1999, we were entrusted again by the Central Government to build the “Lotus in Full Bloom” pedestal.
Lotus is the official flower of Macao SAR. The blooming lotus symbolizes the flourish of Macao. The vermilion pedestal made by UMGG composed of 23 blocks of granite and with a total weight of 6.5 tons. The lotus leaves represent the three islands of Macao.
On December 20th 1999, the spectacular 6m-high lotus bloomed at Macao Golden Lotus Square. It was a gift from the Central Government of China to celebrate the return of Macao. It carried the motherland’s expectation and blessing for Macao’s return.
For UMGG, it was a task of honor and the chance to testify the glorious moment of China’s renaissance.
